I’d Like to Write the World Some Docs @ Beer City Code 2017

Grand Rapids is one of my hands-down favorite cities in Michigan, and I’m absolutely bummed that I haven’t been there since I spoke at WordCamp Grand Rapids a few years ago. Luckily, that’s about to change, as I’ve been invited to give I’d Like to Write the World Some Docs this June at Beer City Code 2017.

If the talk title isn’t familiar, don’t be alarmed: Write the World Some Docs will be premiering in April at Lone Star PHP.

It takes a special kind of person to enjoy writing documentation; not only do I have to write [ideally] working code, but now I have to write words that a human being can understand? What is this madness?!

Luckily, good documentation lives on outside your codebase. By following common documentation standards, we can generate comprehensive manuals that instruct others how to integrate with our software. After all, to code is human, but to document is divine.

Beer City Code contains three things I love (hint: they’re right in the name) into an excuse to take a drive up north for a long weekend. If you’re planning to attend (and I hope you do, it’s super inexpensive), let’s grab some beers, talk code, and uhhh…be in the city, I guess.
