DW’s Building Maintenance
www.dwsmaintenance.comDW's Building Maintenance is a family-run window cleaning company in Saginaw, MI that has been operating out of different names and addresses for over fifteen years. David Wolford, Jr. (the company's owner and namesake) approached me in late 2009 to construct a website and improve DW's online presence.
The main site structure is fairly simple - a homepage, a description of services, an estimate request form, and a contact form. The contact form also doubles as a testimonial submission form - if a user checks "This is a testimonial," the message is sent to DW's and added to the database as a "pending" testimonial.
Within the content management system, DW's is able to moderate pending and current testimonials and track estimate requests. All pending testimonials and requests are also emailed to Mr. Wolford.
I was responsible the design, build, and content of the site. The company wanted a clean presentation with a clear navigation system and straight-forward organization of information. As the logo has been the one consistent element of branding for the past few years, I was asked to change the logo only as a last resort (perhaps a task for later down the road).
Given DW's fairly concentrated service area (Saginaw, MI and surrounding areas), steps were taken to optimize localized search engine visibility. Listings were added in Google Local Business Center, Yahoo! Local, and several Internet Yellow Pages (IYP) aggregators. Additionally, the site takes advantage of the Dublin Core, geographically-based meta tags, and the hCard microformat.
